Extraction protocol Milk samples were collected and centrifuged at 2,000 x g for 10 min to separate the milk fat. The milk fat was removed to a separate vial, an equal volume of RNAse free water and Trizol added. An equal volume of chloroform was added and the entire sample was centrifuged at 12,000 x g. After centrifuging 70% ethanol was added. RNA was cleaned by Qiagen RNAeasy Mini Kit.
RNA libraries were prepared for sequencing using standard Illumina protocols
