350-500 ng genomic DNA from each sample was bisulfite converted using the EZ-96 DNA Methylation Kit (Zymo Research Corporation, Orange, US) according to the manufacturer recommendations. Each sample was whole genome amplified and enzymatically fragmented following the instructions in the Illumina Infinium HD Assay Methylation Protocol Guide .

Data processing |
Illumina files were read and processed using the R package minfi (v. 1.28.4). The arrays were normalized using the quantile algorithm. Probes with detection p.value above 0.1 were discarded.
