Extraction protocol |
Tissues were obtained from male rats at 16 weeks old. Total RNA was extracted using RNeasy maxi kit (Qiagen).

All reagents were provided in the CodeLink Expression Assay Kit. cRNA synthesis was performed according to the manufacturer's instructions using 2 ug of total RNA and labeled with Cy5.

Hybridization protocol |
The fragmented cRNA was hybridized overnight at 37C in hybridization buffer in an Innova 4080 shaking incubator (New Brunswick, Edison, NJ) at 300 rpm.

Scan protocol |
Images were captured on an Axon GenePix Scanner (Arlington, TX) using GenePix Pro 6.0 Software and were analyzed using CodeLink Expression Analysis Software.

Data processing |
Expression values were globally normalized to the median expression value of the whole rat probes. Signal smaller than or equal to 0.23 is weak and such probes should be discarded.
