Treatment protocol The posterior part of the embryo (immediately below the forelimb pit) was cut off and transferred separately to a 600 uL plastic tube containing 15 uL of RNAlater (Ambion).
Growth protocol Embryos were removed from pregnant dams at embryonic day 9.5. At E 9.5, the average embryo was ā€œCā€ shaped and had 21.3 pairs of somites and neurul tube closure was complete with the exception of the posterior neuropore.

Extraction protocol The total RNA was extracted from collected posterior parts of E9.5 embryos using PicoPure RNA isolation Kit (Arcturus).
