Growth protocol Animals were grown according to standard procedures described in Richtlinien für die Stationsprüfung auf Mastleistung, Schlachtkörperwert und Fleischbeschaffenheit beim Schwein, ZDS, 2004. Teat tissue taken at slaughter, mean end weight of 110 kg.
Extracted molecule total RNA
Extraction protocol Total RNA was isolated using TRI Reagent (Sigma, Taufkirchen, Germany) according to the manufacturer’s protocol. After DNaseI treatment the RNA was cleaned up using the RNeasy Kit (Qiagen, Hilden, Germany).
Label biotin
Label protocol Biotinylated cRNA were prepared according to the standard Affymetrix protocol from 500 ng total RNA (Expression Analysis Technical Manual, 2001, Affymetrix).
 
Hybridization protocol Following fragmentation, 10 ug of cRNA were hybridized for 16 hr at 42°C on Affymetrix GeneChip Porcine Genome Array. GeneChips were washed and stained in the Affymetrix Fluidics Station 400.
Scan protocol Scanning using the GeneChip scanner 3000 were performed according to Affymetrix protocols
Description Gene expression data from teat tissue of peripubertal pigs of commercial dam lines
Data processing Data were analysed with Affymetrix GCOS 1.1.1 software using global scaling to a target signal of 500.
