Verticillium dahliae disease resistance and the regulatory pathway for maturity and tuberization in potato

(Submitter supplied) Purpose: Verticillium dahliae is a fungal plant pathogen. The goals of the study are to examine gene networks involved in controlling resistance to V. dahliae in potato using expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) mapping. Methods: 91 clones from a diploid potato mapping population 15143 and the parental lines 07506-01 and 12120-03 from the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada were propagated in a V. more...

Transcriptional changes in dormant potato minitubers treated with 1-(alpha-ethylbenzy)-3-nitroquanidine

(Submitter supplied) RNA was sequenced from commercially grown greenhouse minitubers treated with 10 ug of 1-(alpha-ethylbenzy)-3-nitroquanidine (NG) in DMSO and followed for four, and seven days post treatment. Control tubers were injected with DMSO alone. Sequence reads were mapped to the potato genome (PGSC_DM_v3_2.1.11) and transcript abundance was determined using Cuffdiff v 2.02.

High-throughput sequencing of small RNAs in Solanum tuberosum

(Submitter supplied) Small RNAs (21-24 nt) are pivotal regulators of gene expression that guide both transcriptional and post-transcriptional silencing mechanisms in diverse eukaryotes, including most if not all plants. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) and short interfering RNAs (siRNAs) are the two major types, both of which have a demonstrated and important role in plant development, stress responses and pathogen resistance. In this work, we used a deep sequencing approach (Sequencing-By-Synthesis, or SBS) to develop sequence resources of small RNAs from Solanum tuberosum tissues (including leaves, flowers and stolon). more...
