Pseudomonas aeruginosa gene regulation by Staphylococcus aureus exoproducts

(Submitter supplied) Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus are often co-isolated in persistent infections. The goal of this study was to determine how secreted products from S. aureus affect gene expression in P. aeruginosa. Therefore, media control or S. aureus supernatant was added to P. aeruginosa cultures at 25% total volume and gene expression was measured at 20 min, 1 h, and 2 h using RNA-seq. Overall, after addition of S. more...

Novel Mechanisms of Antibiotic Resistance in Mismatch Repair-Deficient Pseudomonas aeruginosa hypermutators

(Submitter supplied) Using in vitro directed evolution, we show that mismatch repair-deficient Pseudomonas aeruginosa can engage novel resistance mechanisms to ceftazidime-avibactam.

Differential transcriptomes of P. aeruginosa PAO1 upon continuous exposure to antibiotic-impregnated catheters

(Submitter supplied) Purpose: The goals of this study are to compare RNA-Seq transcriptomic data of P. aeruginosa PAO1 in response to chronic exposure of clindamycin and rifampicin eluted from antibiotic-impregnated catheters in a continuous biofilm culture condition. Methods: Transcriptomic profiles of P. aeruginosa PAO1 grown with catheters without antibiotic coating or with clindamycin/rifampicin coating were generated by deep sequencing, in quadruplicates, using Illumina NextSeq 550 sequencer with SE-75. more...

The histone-like protein AlgP regulon is distinct in nonmucoid and mucoid Pseudomonas aeruginosa and does not include alginate biosynthesis genes

(Submitter supplied) Here we show that deletion of AlgP in mucoid P. aeruginosa strain does not result in nonmucoid phenotype or reduced alginate production. We also show that there is no significant overlap in the AlgP regulon between mucoid and nonmucoid P. aeruginosa strains.
