The sRNA SorY confers resistance during photooxidative stress by affecting a metabolite transporter in Rhodobacter sphaeroides

(Submitter supplied) Exposure to oxygen and light generates photooxidative stress by the bacteriochlorophyll a mediated formation of singlet oxygen (1O2) in the facultative photosynthetic bacterium Rhodobacter sphaeroides. We have identified SorY as an sRNA, which is induced under several stress conditions and confers increased resistance against 1O2. Klug lab - Rhodobacter sphaeroides - 15k array Version 2 (144 sRNA; Agilent-027061)

(Submitter supplied) The microarray contains probes against 4,304 protein-coding genes, 79 rRNA and tRNA genes, and 144 intergenic regions. Three antisense probes with a length of 60 nt were designed for each gene or intergenic region, when possible. Microarray construction was performed following the instructions of Agilent (www.chem.agilent.com).
