(Submitter supplied) Influenza infection is substantially worsened by the onset of secondary pneumonia caused by bacteria such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The bidirectional interaction between the influenza-injured lung microenvironment and MRSA is poorly understood.
