Nodal, Mixer, and Sox17 inactivation effect on gastrula stage embryo

Analysis of stage 11 embryos inactivated for Nodal signaling, or depleted of Mixer or Sox17 proteins. Microdissected animal caps and vegetal and equatorial regions of stage 11 embryos also examined. Nodal, Mixer, and Sox17 are key proteins of a pathway controlling endoderm formation.

Banded hedgehog effect on the pronephric nephron development

Analysis of pronephric explants dissected from embryos previously injected with banded hedgehog mRNA. Hedgehog suppresses the development of the pronephric kidney tubule but not that of the pronephric glomus. Results provide insight into the molecular basis of this inhibitory effect.

Noggin and Dkk-1 ectopic expression effect on ventral mesoderm during gastrulation

Analysis of stage 10 early and stage 11.5 late gastrula embryos ectopically expressing Noggin, Dkk-1, or both to induce different aspects of organizer activity. The organizer patterns vertebrate embryos during gastrulation. Results provide insight into organizer function during gastrulation.

Transcription factors Mixer and Sox17beta expression effect on naïve ectodermal tissue

Analysis of naïve ectodermal tissue excised from embryos injected with Mixer or Sox17beta mRNA. Mixer and Sox17beta are important in endoderm specification during embryogenesis. Results provide insight into the molecular mechanisms underlying the regulation of endoderm development.
