Comparison between aortic and endocardial endothelial cells expression profiles

(Submitter supplied) Endocardial (EE) and Aortic (AE) endothelial cells were isolated from the same two rats, pooled (EE and AE kept separately) and cultured for 2 passages. Culture conditions and confluence of EE and AE cell cultures were kept as identical as possible. RNA was isolated and the expression profile of both endothelial cell types was compared using the Affymetrix rat genome U34A array. Keywords: parallel sample

Expression data from mouse microvascular transcriptomes

(Submitter supplied) Little is known about the pan-microvascular transcriptome, particularly considering gene transcripts and their encoded proteins that can be considered as vascular-selective in their expression. Using a combination of publicly available and our own transcript profiles, we identified a core set of gene transcripts, which are specifically and broadly expressed in the microvasculature. Expression Profiling of DA, COP, and F1(COPxDA) rat left ventricles

(Submitter supplied) We used high density oligonucleotide arrays to measure the relative expression levels of ~27,000 probe sets in the left ventricles of inbred rat strains; DA (high performing), Copenhagen (COP, low performing), as well as F1(COPxDA) rats bred from these two strains whose performance was intermediate relative to both parental strains. DA and COP rats differ for both intrinsic aerobic running capacity (assessed with a treadmill exercise test to exhaustion) and intrinsic cardiac performance (as assessed by the Langendorff-Neeley working heart model). more...

Unique Gene Expression Profiles of Donor-Matched Human Retinal and Choroidal Vascular Endothelial Cells

(Submitter supplied) Consistent with clinical observations that posterior uveitis frequently involves the retinal vasculature and recent recognition of vascular heterogeneity, we hypothesized that retinal vascular endothelium was a cell population of unique molecular phenotype. Donor-matched cultures of primary retinal and choroidal endothelial cells from 6 human cadavers were incubated with either Toxoplasma gondii tachyzoites (10:1, parasite:cell) or Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide (100 ng/mL); control cultures were simultaneously incubated with medium. more...

Divergent and Convergent Effects on Gene Expression and Function in Acute versus Chronic Endothelial Activation

(Submitter supplied) Activation of the vascular endothelium with cytokines such as TNF is widely used to study the role of the vasculature in proinflammatory disease. To gain insight into mechanisms of prolonged vascular endothelial activation we compared changes in gene expression induced by continuous activation in stable tmTNFalpha expressing cells with changes due to acute TNFalpha challenge in vitro. Affymetrix Genechip® analysis was performed on RNA from control, acute and continuous TNFalpha-activated endothelial cells. more...

Microarray-Bioinformatics analysis of altered genomic expression profiles in the human fetal and infant myocardium

(Submitter supplied) Develop of the heart during perinatal period must involve the differentially expression of a myriad of genes. We can think about the developmental events of heart formation in the context of genetic networks. However the knowledge of the genetic basis in governing and regulating of this development is still partial and scattered; an overall elucidation of the differential expressed genes blueprint before and after birth has never been proposed. more...
