The impact of experience-dependent and independent factors on gene expression in songbird brain [e06]

(Submitter supplied) Songbirds provide rich natural models for studying the relationships of brain anatomy, behavioral function, environmental signals and gene expression. Under the Songbird Neurogenomics Initiative, investigators from more than a dozen laboratories collected brain samples from six species of songbird under a range of experimental conditions, and 488 of these samples were analyzed systematically for gene expression by microarray. more...

Sex differences on the effect of Testosterone in songbirds

(Submitter supplied) In this data set, we compare the expression data of the song nuclei from canaries treated with testosterone to untreated animals to identify gender specific stimulated gene expression. The gene expression profiles were compared to specie specific sexual dimorphic expressions.

Testosterone effects on the HVC transcriptome of adult female European robins (Erithacus rubecula)

(Submitter supplied) Female European robins routinely sing during the winter season, a time when they defend feeding territories and also show elevated circulating testosterone levels. We used wild female European robins captured during fall to examine the effects of testosterone administration on the transcriptome of the song control nucleus HVC (proper name).
