GE expression profile of PBMCs in healthy subjects and MS patients after extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) intake - PART 3 - MS Patients

(Submitter supplied) Gene expression profiles of PBMCs in patients with MS following extra virgin olive oil intake. The aim of the present study was to investigate the whole-genome gene and miRNA profiles of after EVOO intake. Results provide the information of changes in PBMCs transcriptome following EVOO intake.

Gene expression changes in PBMCs from metabolic syndrome patients after acute intake of phenol-rich virgin olive oil

(Submitter supplied) Some studies have shown that acute intake of high-phenol virgin olive oil reduces pro-inflammatory, pro-oxidant and pro-thrombotic states, but nowadays still remains unclear if those effects attributed to its phenolic fraction could be exerted at transcriptional level in vivo. Two virgin olive oil-based breakfasts with high (398 ppm) and low (70 ppm) content of phenolic compounds were administered to twenty patients (9 men and 11 women) with metabolic syndrome following a double-blinded random crossover design. more...

Detection of plant microRNAs in EVOO and plasma samples of healthy volunteers 2 hours postingestion of 40 mL of EVOO.

(Submitter supplied) NGS has been applied to microRNA-enriched RNA obtained from Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO), beer and plasma samples of healthy volunteers that usually consume EVOO hours after the ingestion of 40 mL of EVOO. Results: We did not detect significant amount of microRNA in the EVOO samples. Plasma samples did not contain EVOO microRNAs nor other microRNAs from plant origin.

Human Peripheral Blood mononuclear cells from postmenopausal women: grapefruit juice vs. flavanone-free placebo

(Submitter supplied) Transcriptional profiling of Peripheral Blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) in apparently healthy postmenopausal women consuming flavanones in grapefruit juice (340 ml/day providing around 210 mg of naringenin glycosides) or flavanone-free placebo drink for 6 months in a cross-over design with a 2-month washout period between consumption of two studied drinks. Goal was to determine the effects of chronic consumption of flavanones in garpefruit juice on global gene expression profiles in humans
