Transcriptomics analysis of enteroendocrine cells after vertical sleeve gastrectomy

(Submitter supplied) We report here the transcriptome of sorted enteroendocrine cells from duodenum, ileum and colon from mice after vertical sleeve gastrectomy or sham operation, weight matched or not. We analyze the effect of region of origin and surgery and gene expression and found that only region of origin had an impact on EEC transcriptome

Transcriptomics analysis of human jejunal enteroendocrine cells after vertical sleeve gastrectomy

(Submitter supplied) We report here the transcriptome of a population enriched in enteroendocrine cells from human jejunum from patients before or after gastrectomy. We analyze the effect of surgery on gene expression and found very little effect on EEC transcriptome

Therapeutic PYY/GLP-1 receptor co-agonism in obese-diabetic mice

(Submitter supplied) Therapeutic PYY/GLP-1 receptor co-agonism in obese-diabetic mice synergistically activates discrete hypothalamic and brainstem neuronal circuitries for weight reduction, increased insulin sensitization, recovery of pancreatic ß-cell function and diabetes remission. GLP1-R agonism (IP118) and PYY-2R agonism (PY115) in combination yield surprising synergistic effects on energy homeostasis in mammals. To better understand the genesis of these effects, RNAseq profiling was performed on key brain regions following an acute dose of IP118+PY115.

The role of intestinal iron absorption machinery in regulating gut hormone secretion and systemic metabolism [Duodenum]

(Submitter supplied) Bariatric surgeries remain the most effective treatments for sustained weight loss and remission of type 2 diabetes. In addition to decreased body weight and improved glucose regulation, these procedures also dramatically increase secretion of several gut hormones including GLP-1. Despite these benefits, there are deleterious side effects to these procedures that include an increased incidence of iron-deficiency related anemias. more...
