Long non-coding RNA expression profile associated with malignant progression of oral submucous fibrosis

(Submitter supplied) Oral submucous fibrosis (OSF) as one of the malignant disorders endures a series of histopathological stages to invasive oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) eventually. The role of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) expression in OSF malignant progression is still poorly understood. Genome-wide lncRNA expression profiling of normal mucous, OSF and OSCC tissues was performed by RNA sequencing. Bioinformatic methods were applied for differential lncRNA analysis and functional enrichment analysis. more...

Spatial Multi-omics Reveals the Heterogeneity of Tumor Microenvironment in the OSF-Associated OSCC

(Submitter supplied) Oral submucous fibrosis (OSF) is one of the most common precancerous malignant orders (PMO) with high rates exacerbating into oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), mostly occurred in patients with chewing betel-nut habits in Southeast Asia and Pacific region. However, the spatial characteristics and heteogeneities of tumor microenvironment (TME) in OSF-associated OSCC still remains unclear. Here, we characterized the spatiotemporal changes of OSF-associated OSCC at different malignant states by performing 10x Visium Spatial Transcriptomics (ST) sequencing and airflow-assisted desorption electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry imaging (AFADESI-MSI) analysis.

Role of areca nut induced TGF-β and epithelial mesenchymal interaction in pathogenesis of precancerous Oral submucous fibrosis

(Submitter supplied) To understand the role of areca nut and TGF-β induced gene expression changes in fibroblasts and its contibution in the manifestation of Oral submucous fibrosis, we studied gene expression profile in primary human gingival fibroblast (hGF) cells following treatment with areca nut, TGF-β and both together.

Analysis of differentially expressed long noncoding RNAs, circular RNAs and the associated TF‐mRNA network in tongue squamous cell carcinoma

(Submitter supplied) Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify aberrantly expressed lncRNAs, circular RNAs and the associated TF‐mRNA network in TSCC. Methods: Tongue tumor noncoding and mRNA profiles of tongue squamous cell carcinoma and adjacent noncancerous tissues were generated by deep sequencing, using Illumina HiSeq 4000. Results: Using an optimized data analysis workflow. Conclusions: we found a profile of dysregulated lncRNAs, TFs and mRNAs that could serve as prospective clinical biomarkers because of their tissue specificity and association with the tumorigenesis and progression of TSCC.

Profiling long non-coding RNA expression in oral premalignant lesions.

(Submitter supplied) Oral epithelial dysplasias are believed to progress through a series of histopathological stages; from mild to severe dysplasia, to carcinoma in situ, and finally to invasive OSCC. Underlying this change in histopathological grade are gross chromosome alterations and changes in gene expression of both protein-coding genes and non-coding RNAs. Recent papers have described associations of aberrant expression of microRNAs, one class of non-coding RNAs, with oral cancer. more...
