Gene Expression by granuloma macrophages from resistant and susceptible mice after 4h of phagocytosis of metacyclical Leishmania major

(Submitter supplied) The goal of this experiment was to identify genes which are differentially regulated between Leishmania major- infected granuloma macrophages from mice resistant (C57 Bl/6) and susceptible (BALB/c) to experimental leishmaniasis

Simultaneous gene expression profiling in human macrophages infected with Leishmania major parasites using SAGE

(Submitter supplied) Leishmania (L) are intracellular protozoan parasites which are able to survive and replicate within the harsh and potentially hostile phago-lysosomal environment of mammalian mononuclear phagocytes. A complex interplay then takes place between the macrophage (MΦ) striving to eliminate the pathogen and the parasite struggling for its own survival. To investigate, at the transcriptional level, this host-parasite conflict in the context of monocyte-derived human MΦs (MDM) infection by L. more...

Gene Expression data from Mouse Balb/c Bone marrow derived macrophages infected by the promastigote form of Leishmania major parasite (P) or Killed parasite (Kp) during a time course of infection [Balb/c]

(Submitter supplied) We analyzed the transcriptional signatures of mouse bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDM) at different times after infection with promastigotes of the protozoan parasite Leishmania major. GeneChip Mouse Gene 1.0 ST arrays were used to analyse global changes in gene transcripts to generate a pool of genes that was statistically significant (p-value < 0.05) and a fold change cut-off of 1.5 in at least one of the five infected samples versus non-infected samples.

Engagement of the Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor in Mycobacterium tuberculosis–Infected Macrophages Has Pleiotropic Effects on Innate Immune Signaling

(Submitter supplied) Understanding the mechanisms of host macrophage responses to Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb.) is essential for uncovering potential avenues of intervention to boost host resistance to infection. Macrophage transcriptome profiling revealed M.tb. infection strongly induced expression of several enzymes controlling tryptophan (Trp) catabolism. This included indole 2,3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO1) and tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase (TDO2), which catalyze the rate-limiting step in the kynurenine pathway, producing ligands for the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR). more...

MicroRNA expression profile in macrophages from rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis patients

(Submitter supplied) In osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA), many pathological alterations result from aberrant macrophage hyperactivation in the inflamed synovial membrane, and inhibition of macrophage effector functions is a therapeutic strategy in both diseases. Little is known, about the specific genetic circuits that are differentially deregulated in RA and OA macrophages. microRNA (miR) are short single stranded non-coding RNAs involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. more...
