Analysis of MCF-7 breast cancer cells treated with a Cimicifuga racemosa extract. Extracts from the C. racemosa rhizome are used as an herbal alternative to hormone replacement therapy for alleviation of postmenopausal disorders. Results provide insight into the extract's molecular mode of action.

Effect of actein on the growth of the MDA-MB-453 breast cancer cell lines as a function of time and concentration.

(Submitter supplied) Previous studies indicate that the triterpene glycoside actein from the herb black cohosh inhibits growth of human breast cancer cells. This study seeks to identify genes altered in human breast cancer cells by treatment with actein, using gene expression analysis. We treated MDA-MB-453 human breast cancer cells with actein at 2 doses, 20 or 40 μg/mL, for 6 or 24 h. Actein effect on breast cancer cell line: dose response and time course

Analysis of MDB-MB-453 breast cancer cells treated with 20 or 40 ug/ml actein for 6 or 24 hours. Actein is a triterpene glycoside from the herb black cohosh and inhibits the growth of cancer cells in vitro. Results provide insight into the molecular basis of this inhibitory effect.

Microarray analysis of gene expression profiles in response to tomato leaves extract treatment in MCF-7 breast cancer cells

(Submitter supplied) Microarray analysis was performed to evaluate the global gene expression profiles of MCF-7 breast cancer cells treated with tomato leaves extract (TLE) in 1 hr and 48 hrs of treatment. Several of genes with p < 0.05 and fold-change cut-off <2.00 from human genome had significantly changed after the treatments. Its showed the greatest roles in cancer cells growth and were found either to be down-regulated or up-regulated in cells after the treatment.TLE gave significant expression effects towards several genes such as CRYAB, PIM1, BTG1, CYR61, HIF1A, CEBP-beta, TXNIP, THBS1, HMG1L1 and HIST2H3D genes. more...
