Kruppel-like zinc finger protein ZNF217 overexpression effect on breast cancer cell line

Analysis of MDA-MB-231 cells overexpressing ZNF217. ZNF217 is a Kruppel-like zinc finger protein that localizes to the nucleus. Results provide insight into the role of ZNF217 in the progression of breast cancer.

Genome-wide identification of transcripts associated with lncRNA-ATB by RIP-seq

(Submitter supplied) The role of TGF-β-induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in cancer cell dissemination is well established, but the involvement of lncRNAs in TGF-β signaling is still unknown. In this study, we observed that the lncRNA-Activated by TGF-β (lncRNA-ATB) was upregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) metastases and associated with poor prognosis. lncRNA-ATB upregulated ZEB1 and ZEB2 by competitively binding the miR-200 family and then induced EMT and invasion. more...

Long non-coding RNAs and mRNAs regulated by TGF-β

(Submitter supplied) The role of TGF-β-induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in cancer cell dissemination is well established, but the involvement of lncRNAs in TGF-β signaling is still unknown. In this study, we observed that the lncRNA-Activated by TGF-β (lncRNA-ATB) was upregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) metastases and associated with poor prognosis. lncRNA-ATB promotes the invasion-metastasis cascade, which suggest that lncRNA-ATB, a mediator of TGF-β signaling, could predispose HCC patients to metastases and may serve as a potential target for anti-metastatic therapies.

YWHAZ is an Invasion and Metastasis promoting genes of Lung cancer

(Submitter supplied) Metastasis is a major cause leading to mortality for lung cancer patients. We identified YWHAZ as a potential metastasis-promoting candidate and found that overexpression of YWHAZ promotes lung cancer cell proliferation, anchorage-independent growth, migration, and invasion in vitro, as well as tumorigenesis and metastasis in vivo. It not only increases cell protrusions and branchings but also induces epithelial-mesenchymal transition. more...

The transcription factor ZNF217 is a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target during breast cancer progression

(Submitter supplied) The transcription factor ZNF217 is a candidate oncogene in the amplicon on chromosome 20q13 that occurs in 20-30% of primary human breast cancers and that correlates with poor prognosis. We show Znf217 overexpression drives aberrant differentiation and signaling events, promotes increased self-renewal capacity, mesenchymal marker expression, motility and metastasis, and represses an adult tissue stem cell gene signature downregulated in cancers. more...

Expression data from Control and Six1 expressing MCF7 cells

(Submitter supplied) Inappropriate activation of developmental pathways is a well-recognized tumor-promoting mechanism. Here we show that overexpression of the homeoprotein Six1, normally a developmentally restricted transcriptional regulator, increases Transforming Growth Factor-beta (TGF-beta) signaling in mammary carcinoma cells and induces an epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) that is in part dependent on its ability to increase TGF-beta signaling. more...

RNA-seq of NIC+,CdGAPwt/wt and NIC+,CdGAPfx/fx tumors

(Submitter supplied) CdGAP/ARHGAP31 is a molecular target of TGFb-mediated EMT and required for Her2-positive breast cancer growth and metastasis Metastasis is the leading cause of death in breast cancer patients. The epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) has a crucial role in metastasis and is highly critical for tumor cell dissemination. CdGAP/ARHGAP31 is highly expressed in breast cancer tissues and is associated with poor clinical outcome in breast cancer patients. more...

SIRT7 Antagonizes TGF-β Signaling and Inhibits Breast Cancer Metastasis

(Submitter supplied) Protein deacetylase SIRT7 is significantly downregulated in lung metastases of human patient and mouse tissues, and predicted metastasis-free survival. Transcriptome analysis of MCF10A-M2 cells upon the depletion of OVOL1 or OVOL2

(Submitter supplied) OVOL1 protein was shown to be downregulated in breast cancer patient samples and was inversely correlated with the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) signature. To better dissect the downstream target genes and elucidate the signaling pathways altered by OVOL1, we deplete OVOL1 by the specific siRNA in MCF10A-M2 cells. To set as a control, OVOL2 was knockdown by the specific siRNA in the same cell line. more...
