RNA degradation analysis reveals ribosome dynamics in complex microbiome samples

(Submitter supplied) The microbiome has revealed itself as a key player in health and disease. To better understand its role, in addition to microbial diversity, it is important to understand species-specific activity and gene expression. While metatranscriptomics investigates mRNA abundance2, it does not inform about faster post-transcriptional regulation3. Although prokaryotic translation is a common target for antibiotics, a direct measurement of microbiome ribosome dynamics remains inaccessible. more...

Effects of mixed culture fermentation of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens and Trichoderma longibrachiatum on its constituent strains and the biocontrol of tomato Fusarium wilt

(Submitter supplied) In this study, an in vitro antifungal growth experiment showed that the inhibitory rate of the MCF broth on pathogenic fungi (Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici, Botrytis cinerea, Trichothecium roseum, and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides) was less than that of B. amyloliquefaciens culture fermentation (BCF). Moreover, the content and gene expression of lipopeptide antibiotics was also lower than that in the BCF group. more...

Analysis of differential gene expression during Bacillus subtilis spore outgrowth

(Submitter supplied) The transcriptome of 8 strains were studied during 7 stages of the Morphological phases of sporulation P0 = Resuspention of cells in sporulation medium; P1 = Onset of sporulation before asymmetric division; P2 = Visible asymmetric septum; P3 = Ongoing engulfment of the forespore compartment by the mother cell compartment of sporulating cells; P4 = Completed engulfment (engulfed phase-dark forespores are surrounded by the mother-cell cytoplasm); P5 = Maturation (ongoing dehydration of the forespore core seen as a transition of phase-dark forespores into phase-bright foresppores); P6 = Phase-bright forespores (sporulation almost completed, mother-cells contain phase-bright dehydrated forespores).

Transcriptomics of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens SQR9 to maize root exudates

(Submitter supplied) Root exudates play an important role in plant-microbe interaction. The transcriptional profilings of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria Bacillus amyloliquefaciens SQR9 in response to maize root exudates under static condition, were investigated by an Illumina RNA-seq for understanding the regulatory roles of the root exudates.
