Title Genomic profiles of asbestos-induced mesothelioma developed in wild-type and BRCA1+/- SD rats
Organism Rattus norvegicus
Experiment type Genome variation profiling by genome tiling array
Summary Intraperitoneal administration of crocidolite or chrysotile is an established method to induce peritoneal malignant mesothelioma(MM), which shares common genetic alterations to those in humans. We conducted high-resolution microarray comparative genomic hybridization mesothelioma tissues obtained from both wild-type and BRCA1+/- rats to evaluate the involvement of BRCA1 haploinsufficiency in carcinogenesis.

Overall design The carcinogenesis protocol was started with 37 BRCA1+/- and 37 wild-type Jcl: SD rats. 26/37 (70.2%) of BRCA1+/- rats and 27/37 (72.9%) wild-type rats developed MMs in total. Genomes of 8 samples from MMs for each genotype (16 in total) were profiled on Agilent 180K rat genome CGH microarrays.
