CPT1B regulates goat intramuscular preadipocyte lipid deposition through p38MAPK signaling pathway

(Submitter supplied) CPT1B, as the major rate-limiting enzyme for fatty acid β-oxidation, involved in the regulation of adipose tissue lipid deposition, but its role in the regulation of goat intramuscular fat (IMF) remains unclear. Here, we conducted knockdown experiments targeting the CPT1B gene in goat intramuscular preadipocytes, resulting in a significant increase in intracellular triglyceride (TAG) content and lipid droplet accumulation. more...

LIPG regulates goat intramuscular preadipocyte proliferation and lipid deposition through PPARα signaling pathway

(Submitter supplied) LIPG has an important role in the maintenance of lipid homeostasis. To reveal the potential molecular mechanisms by which LIPG regulates lipid deposition and proliferation in goat intramuscular preadipocytes by constructing a transcriptional profile of knockdown LIPG gene. This work extends the regulatory network of IMF deposition.

Direct Reprogramming of Fibroblasts into Functional Mammary Epithelial cells by small molecules (miRNAseq)

(Submitter supplied) Mammary epithelial cells (MECs), the only cell type which could be capable of secreting milk in mammary gland, can be applied for the generation of transgenic mammary cell/gland bioreactor. However, continuously achieving large amount of high-quality goat MECs by non-invasion method, especially prepuberal MECs, in vitro has been a challenge. Here, we show that a small molecules cocktail enables the in vitro generation of chemically-induced mammary epithelial cells (CiMECs) with milk-secreting properties from goat ear fibroblasts. more...

Functional genome and microbiome in blood of goats affected by the gastrointestinal pathogen Haemonchus contortus

(Submitter supplied) The Alpine goat Capra aegagrus hircus is parasitized by the barber pole worm (Haemonchus contortus). This relationship results in changes that affect the gene expression of the host, the pest, and the microbiome of both. Hematological parameters indicating genes that are expressed and/or the % Composition of abundant and diverse microbial flora are reflective of infestation. We identified responses to barber pole worms using blood-based analysis of transcripts and the microbiome. more...

Genome-wide identification and characterization of long non-coding RNAs and mRNAs in goat tissues infected with PPRV

(Submitter supplied) We have used RNA-Seq to examine long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and mRNAs from PPRV infected goat tissues (Lung, Spleen and Caecum). Our study reveals the prevalence of lncRNAs in goats, and has identified lncRNAs differentially expressed in different tissues of PPRV (Izatnagar94) infected goats, suggesting its important functions during virus infection.

Transcriptome profiling reveals transcriptional and alternative splicing regulation in the early embryonic development of hair follicles in the cashmere goat

(Submitter supplied) The undercoat fiber of the cashmere goat, from the secondary hair follicle (HF), possesses commercial value. However, very few studies have focused on the molecular details of primary and secondary HF initiation and development in goat embryos. In this study, skin samples at embryonic day 45, 55, and 65 (E45, E55, and E65) were collected and prepared for RNA sequencing (RNA-seq). We found that the HF probably initiated from E55 to E65 by analyzing the functional pathways of differentially expressed genes (DEGs). more...
