(Submitter supplied) Arabidopsis thaliana is not particularly stress tolerant and may lack protective mechanisms required to survive extreme environmental conditions. Thellungiella salsuginea has therefore attracted increasing interest as an alternative plant model species that possesses high tolerance of various abiotic stresses.
