Analysis of progressive left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in spontaneously hypertensive (SHR) males at 12, 16, and 20 months of age. LVH impairs diastolic relaxation, which decreases cardiac output and leads to heart failure (HF). Provides insight into pathogenesis of hypertrophy and LV remodeling.

Cardiac left ventricular hypertrophy model

Analysis of heart left ventricles (LVs) of animals with pressure overload LV hypertrophy (LVH) caused by transverse aortic constriction. Pressure overload on the heart resulting from chronic hypertension or aortic stenosis is a stimulus for LVH. Results provide insight into the pathogenesis of LVH.

Differential Myocardial Gene Expression in the Development and Rescue of Murine Heart Failure
