Molecular targets of doxazosin in human prostatic stromal cells

(Submitter supplied) BACKGROUND: We used cDNA microarray analysis to obtain insights into the mechanisms of action of doxazosin, an alpha(1)-adrenergic receptor antagonist used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). METHODS: Hierarchical clustering analysis and significance analysis of microarray (SAM) were performed to identify genes differentially expressed between untreated stromal cells cultured from normal tissue and BPH, and changes in gene expression induced by doxazosin. more...

Distinctive gene expression of prostatic stromal cells cultured from diseased versus normal tissues

(Submitter supplied) To obtain a comprehensive view of the transcriptional programs in prostatic stromal cells of different histological/pathological origin, we profiled 18 adult human stromal cell cultures from normal transition zone (TZ), normal peripheral zone (PZ), benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and prostate cancer (CA) using cDNA microarrays. Set of arrays organized by shared biological context, such as organism, tumors types, processes, etc. more...

Gene expression profile of Transgenic Adenocarcinoma of the Mouse Prostate (TRAMP)

(Submitter supplied) Gene expression profile of Transgenic Adenocarcinoma of the Mouse Prostate (TRAMP) reveals murine targets for preclinical development of human prostate cancer therapy In this study, we have generated an open source TRAMP microarray dataset to identify differentially expressed genes from human prostate cancer that have concordant expression in TRAMP tumors, and thereby represent lead targets for preclinical therapy development. more...

FOXF2-regulated genes in human primary prostate stromal cells

(Submitter supplied) To identify the genes and pathways regulated by FOXF2, we investigated potential FOXF2 gene targets by microarray analyses of primary prostate stromal cells (PrSC) in which FOXF2 was knocked down by siRNA. 190 differentially expressed genes were selected, of which 104 genes were more highly expressed in PrSC cells treated with FOXF2 siRNA and 86 were more highly expressed in PRSC cells treated with negative control siRNA.

Prostates of rats with induced partial bladder outlet obstruction and the effect of Eviprostat on those changes

(Submitter supplied) Prostatic inflammation plays a role in the progression of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Eviprostat is an antiinflammatory and antioxidant phytotherapeutic agent widely used to treat lower urinary tract symptoms in BPH. However, because Eviprostat is a mixture of compounds from multiple natural sources, its mechanism of action has been difficult to investigate. In this study, we used oligonucleotide microarrays to identify changes in gene expression that occur in the prostate of rats with surgically induced partial bladder outlet obstruction and the effect of Eviprostat on those changes.

Two distinct gene signatures identify malignant Neuroblast and Schwannian stromal cells of Neuroblastic Tumors

(Submitter supplied) Tumor tissue heterogeneity is a well known feature of several solid tumors. Neuroblastic Tumors (NTs) is a group of paediatric cancers with a great tissue heterogeneity. Most of NTs are composed of undifferentiated, poorly differentiated or differentiating neuroblastic (Nb) cells with very few or absent Schwannian stromal (SS) cells: these tumors are grouped as Neuroblastoma (Schwannian stroma-poor). more...
