Gene expression profiling reveals novel molecular marker candidates of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma

(Submitter supplied) Laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma is a very common in head and neck cancer, accounting for 25% of all cases, with high mortality rates and poor prognosis. In this study, we compared expression profiles of clinical samples from15 larynx tumors and 10 non-neoplastic larynx tissue using a custom-built cDNA microarray containing 332 probes for 285 genes previously identified as up- or down-regulated in head and neck tumors by the Head and Neck Annotation Consortium (Reis et al., Cancer Res 65:1693-99, 2005). more...

Downstreams of hnRNP A2 in Colo16 cells

(Submitter supplied) Limited knowledge of the downstream targets of hnRNP A2/B1 has, however, precluded a clear understanding of their roles in cancer cell growth. To define the pathways in which this protein acts we have now carried out microarray experiments with total RNA from Colo16 epithelial cells transfected with an shRNA that markedly suppresses hnRNP A2/B1 expression. The microarray data identified 123 genes, among 22283 human gene probe sets, with altered expression levels in hnRNP A2/B1-depleted cells. more...

Gene expression in the liver following exposition to 1Gy ionizing radiation

(Submitter supplied) Although major differences in the response of tissues were documented in the literature, the molecular mechanisms underlying tissue radiosensitivity are still fragmentary and need to be study more thoroughly. To this end, a genome wide analysis strategy was used to investigate changes in gene expression in the liver following exposition to ionizing radiation. This follows the tissue survey that was previously initiated with other organs and tends to obtain a comprehensive picture of the molecular events underlying tissue radio sensitivity. more...

mRNA expression profiling of nasopharyngeal carcinoma

(Submitter supplied) Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is an Epstein-Barr virus-associated epithelial cancer with high prevalence in Southeast Asia. mRNA expression levels were measured for essentially all human genes and all latent Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) genes in nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissue samples and normal nasopharyngeal tissues. Data were analyzed for differential gene expression between tumor and normal tissue and for correlations with levels of viral gene expression. more...

Expression analysis in a breast cancer metastasis model

(Submitter supplied) This study compares a cell line (MDA-MB-468GFP-LN) that aggressively metastasizes to lymph nodes to its parental line MDA-MB-468GFP. Derivation of the lines is described in Vantyghem et al, Clinical & Experimental Metastasis (2005) 22: 351–361. The goal here was to compare the gene expression profile of MDA-MB-468GFP-LN to MDA-MB-468GFP, Compare differential expression to databases of genes known to be involved in either cancer stem cell identification or lymph node specific metastasis in large scale clinical studies, and to confirm genes by RT-PCR

Gene Expression Analysis of Human Endometrial Endothelial Cells Exposed to o,p'-DDT

(Submitter supplied) The endocrine disrupting chemical o,p'-DDT can affect reproductive organs, tissues and cells in several species. Treatment of human endometrial endothelial cells (HEEC) with 50 µM o,p'-DDT decreased the cell proliferation compared to the control. Microarray analyses revealed that o,p'-DDT affected biological processes such as the cell cycle, cell division, defence response and lipid and steroid metabolism, in cellular components such as the plasma membrane and chromosomes, with molecular functions involved in signalling, receptor and cytokine activity, confirming the results of the proliferation assay. more...

Identification of LATS transcriptional targets in HeLa cells using whole human genome oligonucleotide micorarray

(Submitter supplied) Human LATS1 and LATS2 (LATS1/2) are tumor suppressors that have been shown to be mutated or downregulated in several human cancers including leukemia, lung, prostate and breast cancers. However, the precise mechanisms and the proteins modulated by LATS1/2 that are responsible for these events remain largely unknown. To elucidate potential signaling pathways, the current study investigated the expression profile in HeLa cells with reduced expression of LATS1/2. more...

CCRF-CEM Prednisolone treatment at 4h

(Submitter supplied) Background: Glucocorticoids are important pharmaceutical agents in the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in children. Resistance or sensitivity to glucocorticoids is considered to be of crucial importance for disease prognosis.
