Healthy glucocorticoid receptor N363S SNP carriers and metabolic syndrome

Gene expression changes in PBMCs from metabolic syndrome patients after acute intake of phenol-rich virgin olive oil

(Submitter supplied) Some studies have shown that acute intake of high-phenol virgin olive oil reduces pro-inflammatory, pro-oxidant and pro-thrombotic states, but nowadays still remains unclear if those effects attributed to its phenolic fraction could be exerted at transcriptional level in vivo. Two virgin olive oil-based breakfasts with high (398 ppm) and low (70 ppm) content of phenolic compounds were administered to twenty patients (9 men and 11 women) with metabolic syndrome following a double-blinded random crossover design. more...

LncRNA Expression Profile and Identification of Novel LncRNA Biomarkers for Diagnosing Coronary Artery Disease

(Submitter supplied) Dysregulation of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) has been proven to be involved in the pathogenesis of coronary artery disease (CAD). However, it remains to be extensively explored.Using microarray, we performed the transcriptome-wide lncRNA and mRNAs expression profile in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of 93 CAD patients and 48 healthy controls. Gene Ontology (GO) and pathway analysis for differentially expressed mRNAs was used to investigate underlying biological associations of differentially expressed lncRNAs and create path-net to depict interactions of significant pathways. more...

Discovery of new candidate genes for rheumatoid arthritis through integration of genetic association data with expression pathway analysis

(Submitter supplied) Purpose: The goal of the study was to integrate verified signals from previous genetic association studies with gene expression and pathway analysis for discovery of new candidate genes and signalling networks, relevant for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Method:RNA-seq based expression analysis of 377 genes from previously verified RA-associated loci was performed in blood cells from 5 newly diagnosed, non-treated RA patients, 7 patients with treated RA and 12 healthy controls. more...

Gene expression and genotype in normal heart

(Submitter supplied) Genome-wide association studies have identified a small region at chromosome 9p21.3 strongly associated with coronary heart disease risk. The region contains no protein-coding genes and the mechanism underlying its association with heart disease is unknown. We investigated associations between rs1333049, a single nucleotide polymorphism representing the 9p21.3 locus, and levels of cardiac gene expression in myocardial tissue from donors with no documented history of heart disease.
