Next Generation Sequencing Facilitates Quantitative Analysis of Physcion and Chrysophanol on cucumber powdery mildew Transcriptomes

(Submitter supplied) We generated 17.6 Gb of high-quality sequencing data (~2 Gb per sample) and catalogued the expression profiles of 12,293 annotated cucumber genes in each sample. The analysis showed differences of transcriptomes between physcion and chrysophanol alone treatment and combination treatment as well as revealed that the combination treatment the most defence-related genes induced expression changes. We identified numerous differentially expressed genes that exhibited distinct expression patterns, and defence-related genes that were highly differentiated between the physcion and chrysophanol alone treatment and combination treatment. more...

Identification of candidate regulators of powdery mildew resistance in cucumber using comparative RNA-sequencing based transcriptome analysis

(Submitter supplied) To investigate the candidate genes governing Pm5.1 and their effects on powdery resistance, the RNA-sequencing based transcriptomes of the powdery mildew resistant segment substitution line SSL508-28 and recurrent parent D8 were compared 48 h after inoculation with the PM pathogen.

Transcriptome analysis of cucumber in response to high temperature stress

(Submitter supplied) In order to find out the genes involved in the heat shock response of cucumber, the seedlings of '9930', a North China type cucumber variety, were treated with high temperature at 42℃, and the leaves of the seedlings were taken after 0, 3 and 6 hours of treatment for transcriptome sequencing to analyze the differential expression genes of cucumber in response to high temperature stress. The results showed that compared with the control (heat treatment at 0h), there were 6 082 genes differentially expressed after heat treatment for 3 h and 6 h, of which 3245 were up-regulated and 2 388 were down-regulated. more...

The miRNAs and their targets in cucumber shoot apexes in response to temperature and photoperiod environments

(Submitter supplied) The cucumber is one of the most important vegetables worldwide and is used as a research model for study of phloem transport, sex determination and temperature-photoperiod physiology. The shoot apex is the most important plant tissue in which the cell fate and organ meristems have been determined. In this study, a series of whole-genome small RNA, degradome and transcriptome analyses were performed on cucumber shoot apical tissues treated with high vs. more...

Expression data of Arabidopsis thaliana Col-0 and mlo2 mlo6 mlo12 plants prior (0h) and after (8 and 12 h) Golovinomyces orontii inoculation

(Submitter supplied) Comparative microarray-based transcriptome analysis of A. thaliana mlo2 mlo6 mlo12 mutants and wild type plants upon Golovinomyces orontii inoculation revealed an increased and accelerated accumulation of many defense-related transcripts. Despite the biotrophic nature of the interaction, this included the non-canonical activation of a jasmonic acid/ethylene-dependent transcriptional program.
