An integrative analysis of renal miRNA- and mRNA-expression signatures in progressive chronic kidney disease [validation cohort]

(Submitter supplied) MicroRNAs (miRNAs) contribute to chronic kidney disease progression via negatively regulating mRNA abundance. However, their association with clinical outcome remains poorly understood. We performed large-scale miRNA and mRNA expression profiling on cryo-cut renal biopsy sections from a discovery (n=43) and a validation (n=29) cohort. In the discovery cohort (GEO Series accession number GSE45980), miRNAs differentiating stable and progressive cases were determined, and putative target mRNAs showing inversely correlated expression profiles were identified. more...

An integrative analysis of renal miRNA- and mRNA-expression signatures in progressive chronic kidney disease [discovery cohort]

(Submitter supplied) MicroRNAs (miRNAs) significantly contribute to chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression via regulating mRNA expression and abundance. However, their association with clinical outcome remains poorly understood. We performed large scale miRNA and mRNA expression profiling on cryo-cut renal biopsy sections from n=43 subjects. miRNAs differentiating stable and progressive cases were determined, and putative target mRNAs showing inversely correlated expression profiles were identified and further characterized. more...

microRNA sequencing of human placentae and matched maternal plasma from 6-23 weeks of gestation

(Submitter supplied) microRNAs are increasingly seen as important regulators of placental development and opportunistic biomarker targets. We generated miRNA profiles using 96 placentas from presumed normal pregnancies, across early gestation, in combination with matched profiles from maternal plasma. We identified 637 miRNAs with expression in 86 samples (after removing poor quality samples), showing a clear gestational age gradient and identified 374 differentially expressed (DE) miRNAs across a gestational cut-off of 6-10 weeks’ and 11-23 weeks’. more...

microRNA expression profiles of distinct mouse mammary epithelial cell types

(Submitter supplied) RNA samples were prepared from freshly sorted mammary cell subpopulations (MaSC/basal-enriched, luminal progenitor, mature luminal and stromal) from five sets of adult mice. High throughput RT-PCR was used to measure the global microRNA expression profiles of each cell subpopulation. The expression profiles were compared between cell subpopulations to gain insight into the regulation of lineage-restricted genes.

Characterization of B- and T-lineage ALL by Integrated Analysis of microRNA and mRNA Expression Profiles

(Submitter supplied) Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is an heterogeneous disease comprising several subentities that differ for both immunophenotypic and molecular characteristics. Over the years, the biologic understanding of this neoplasm has largely increased. Gene expression profiling has recently allowed to identify specific signatures for the different ALL subsets and permitted identification of pathways deregulated by a given lesion. more...

MicroRNA expression profiles from eggs of different qualities associated with post-ovulatory ageing in rainbow trout

(Submitter supplied) Egg quality is an important aspect in rainbow trout farming. Post-ovulatory aging is one of the most important factors affecting egg quality. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are the major regulators in various biological processes and their expression profiles could serve as reliable biomarkers for various pathological and physiological conditions. Egg samples from 32 females on day 1, day 7, and day 14 post-ovulation (D1PO, D7PO and D14PO), which had the fertilization rates of 91.8%, 73.4% and less than 50%, respectively, were collected and small RNAs isolated from these samples were subjected to deep sequencing using the Illumina platform. more...

Characterization of the Placental Transcriptome through Mid to Late Gestation in the Mare

(Submitter supplied) The placenta is a dynamic organ which undergoes extensive remodeling throughout pregnancy to support, protect and nourish the developing fetus. Despite the importance of the placenta, very little is known about its gene expression beyond very early pregnancy and post-partum. Therefore, we utilized RNA-sequencing to characterize the transcriptome from the fetal (chorioallantois) and maternal (endometrium) components of the placenta from mares throughout gestation (4, 6, 10, 11 m). more...
