Transcriptional variation in the yeast Yarrowia lipolytica depending on substrate and pH conditions applied in bioreactor cultivations

(Submitter supplied) Yarrowia lipolytica exhibits phenotypic variations depending on external triggers like substrate and pH conditions. The purpose of this study was to create a dataset to unravel the transcriptional regulation behind the observed phenotype.

Functional genomics for the oleaginous yeast Yarrowia lipolytica

(Submitter supplied) Oleaginous yeasts are valuable systems for biosustainable production of hydrocarbon-based chemicals. Yarrowia lipolytica is one of the best characterized of these yeast with respect to genome annotation and flux analysis of metabolic processes. Nonetheless, progress is hampered by a dearth of genomewide tools enabling functional genomics. The Hermes DNA transposon was expressed to achieve saturation mutagenesis of the Y. more...

Effect of Snf-1 mutation on gene expression profiles in Y. lipolytica

(Submitter supplied) To extensively investigate the effect of Snf-1 on n-alkane assimilation in Y. lipolytica, we generated ∆Snf-1 strain using a homologous recombination method. The gene expression profilling analysis between wild-type and ∆Snf-1 strains were compared.

Transcriptional profiling of a NAGA kinase (nag5) mutant in Yarrowia lipolyitica

(Submitter supplied) In the fungus Yarrowia lipolytica the transcription of the genes encoding the enzymes of the N-acetylgucosamine (NAGA) pathway (NAG genes) is regulated by the presence of NAGA in the culture medium. In a wild-type strain, those genes are expressed at a very low level during growth in glucose while their expression increases 20 to 40 fold in cultures grown in NAGA. However, a deletion of the gene YlNAG5, encoding the NAGA kinase, abolishes this regulation and renders the transcription of those genes independent of the presence of NAGA in the medium (Flores and Gancedo 2015). more...

Characterization of epigenetic regulators, HepA and LaeA, in Aspergillus luchuensis mut. kawachii

(Submitter supplied) To investigate the roles of epigenetic regulator homologs, heterochromatin protein 1 (HepA) and a putative methyltransferase (LaeA), in the citric acid produciton by Aspergillus luchuensis mut. kawachii, we constructed the ΔhepA and ΔlaeA strains. We then performed gene expression profiling analysis using data obtained from RNA-seq of Aspergillus luchuensis mut. kawachii control, ΔhepA, and ΔlaeA strains.
