SEN1990 encodes a transcriptional regulator from Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis that modulates the expression of the SPI-17 encoded gene oafB

(Submitter supplied) Excisable Genomic Islands (EGIs) are horizontally acquired genetic elements that harbor an array of genes with diverse functions. ROD21 is an EGI found integrated in the chromosome of Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis (Salmonella ser. Enteritidis). While this island is known to be involved in the capacity of Salmonella ser. Enteritidis to cross the epithelial barrier and colonize sterile organs, the role for most of ROD21 genes remains unknown, and thus identification of their function is fundamental to understand the impact of this EGI on the bacterium pathogenicity. more...

Differences in the global transcriptome between high- and low-pathogenic Salmonella Enteritidis strains

(Submitter supplied) We report the use of RNA-Seq technique to characterize differences in the global transcritome between multiple genetically similar but phenotypically diverse poultry-associated field strains of S. Enteritidis grown in laboratory media at avian body temperature (42°C).

Transcriptional Sequencing Uncovers Survival Mechanisms of Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis in Antibacterial Egg White

(Submitter supplied) Purpose: To elucidated key metabolic pathways important for S. Enteritidis survival in egg white. Methods: RNA sample of Mid-log phase bacteria cultures that grown in M9FeS medium were taken as 0h sample, and bacteria incubated with egg white for 6h 12h and 24h were taken as 6,12,24h RNA sample respectively. Three biological replicates were carried out per sample. RNA sample was sequenced with Illumina HiSeq 2000 System. more...

Differences between the global transcriptomes of Salmonella enterica serovars Dublin and Cerro during infection of bovine epithelial cells

(Submitter supplied) This study compares the global transcriptomes of highly pathogenic bovine-adapted S. enterica serovar Dublin and the less pathogenic bovine-adapted serovar Cerro during interactions with bovine epithelial cells, to identify genes that impact serovar-related outcomes of S. enterica infections in dairy animals
