Iron effect on Magnetospirillum magneticum AMB-1: dose-response

Analysis of magnetotactic bacterium strain AMB-1 grown under various initial iron-rich conditions. These bacteria have a high-iron requirement for magnetosome synthesis, several orders of magnitude greater than that for E coli. Results provide insight into specific iron uptake systems in AMB-1.

Magnetospirillum magneticum AMB-1
Type:
Expression profiling by array, log2 ratio, 8 dose sets

Global gene expression analysis of iron-inducible genes in Magnetospirillum magneticum AMB-1

(Submitter supplied) Deatails of the series are available in the publications Suzuki et al., The Journal of Bacteriology “Global gene expression analysis of iron-inducible genes in Magnetospirillum magneticum AMB-1”, accepted for the publication. The gene expression profiles were categorized into 5 patterns. Abstract of the publication: "feo, tpd and ftr which encode ferrous transporters were up-regulated under iron-rich conditions. The concomitant rapid iron uptake and magnetite formation suggest that these uptake systems serve as iron supply lines for magnetosome synthesis." Keywords: iron response

Expression analysis of Magnetospirillum magneticum AMB-1 WT, ΔMAI, ΔctrA, ΔdivK, and ΔctrA complemented with CtrA D51E, CtrA D51A, and an empty vector control

(Submitter supplied) Investigation of whole genome expression changes in Magnetospririllum magneticum mutants, probing the role of the CtrA regulatory pathway. The mutants are further described in a manuscript submitted for publication at J. Bacteriology. Developmental events across the prokaryotic life cycle are highly regulated at the transcriptional and post-translational levels. Key elements of a few regulatory networks are conserved among phylogenetic groups of bacteria, although the features controlled by these conserved systems are as diverse as the organisms encoding them. more...
