Severe pandemic H1N1 influenza effect on peripheral blood: time course

Temporal analysis of peripheral blood from patients with severe pdm(H1N1) influenza, bilateral chest infiltrates, and in need of mechanical ventilation, but without significant co-morbidity. Results provide insight into molecular basis of immune responses in patients with severe pdmH1N1 infection.

Peripheral blood cells expression data form 7 patients with severe pdm(H1N1) influensa and 7 gender and age matched healthy controls

(Submitter supplied) Using PAXgene tubes, peripheral blood samples were collected from seven patients >18 years with documented pdm(H1N1) influenza, bilateral chest infiltrates, and in need of ventilation support. Significant co-morbidity was exclusion criterion. Expression profiles were compared with 7 age matched controls. Host response to IAV infections in human patients

(Submitter supplied) Using influenza infection as a disease model, we used a systems biology approach to analyse host response and to identify immune pathways that might contribute to disease progression. We recruited influenza patients with varying severity of infection (n=154) and collected peripheral blood samples within 24 hours of their presentation to hospitals.
