Definition

A rapidly growing neoplasm that arises from the conjunctiva. It is characterized by a proliferation of squamous cells, acanthosis, keratinization, dysplasia, increased mitotic activity, and a central crater filled with keratinocytes. It is considered a variant of well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma with distinct clinical behavior. [from NCI]
