Differential transcriptome of human dendritic cells at first contact with Trypanosoma cruzi reveals response to virus as a central unexplored pathway

(Submitter supplied) Chagas disease is a notorious public health problem worldwide. However, the pathology is still poorly understood in humans and dendritic cells (DCs) have a determinant role during infection that could help to understand what happens with immune response during the first contact. Here we performed a transcriptomic analysis of the interaction between DCs from three human donors and the infective forms of T. more...

Expression data from human primary fibroblasts, endothelial and smooth muscle cells infected with Trypanosoma cruzi

(Submitter supplied) Trypanosoma cruzi is an obligate intracellular protozoan parasite that causes human Chagas’ disease, a leading cause of heart failure in Latin America. Using Affymetrix oligonucleotide arrays we screened phenotypically diverse human cells (foreskin fibroblasts, microvascular endothelial cells and vascular smooth muscle cells) for a common transcriptional response signature to T. cruzi. A common feature was a prominent type I interferon response, indicative of a secondary response to secreted cytokines. more...

Transcriptome analysis by microarray of human placental chorionic villi explants infected with Trypanosoma cruzi

(Submitter supplied) Chagas’ disease, one of the major public health concerns in Latin America, is caused by the haemophlagelated protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi (T. cruzi). In the past few years congenital transmission of T. cruzi has become more important, and partly responsible for the “globalization of Chagas’ disease”. The congenital transmission, although with low rates, represents the main route of transmission in non-endemic countries and endemic countries without vectorial transmission, and represents one third of the new cases each year. more...

IL-17RA-signaling modulates CD8+ T cell survival, differentiation and exhaustion during Trypanosoma cruzi infection

(Submitter supplied) We used microarrays to compare gene expression profile of spleen CD8 T cells from IL-17RA KO and WT mice at different time-point after T. cruzi infection.

Transcriptomic alterations in a myoblast cell line infected with four distinct strains of Trypanosoma cruzi

(Submitter supplied) We examined the extent to which different Trypanosoma cruzi strains induce transcriptomic changes in cultured L6E9 myoblasts 72 hours or 48 hours after infection with four strains of the parasite [Brazil (TCI); Y, CL and Tulahuen (TC II) strains]. Expression of 6,289 distinct fully annotated unigenes was quantified with 27k rat oligonucleotide arrays in each of the four replicas of all control and infected RNA samples. more...
