Mouse models of cardiac remodeling

(Submitter supplied) We employed the Affymetrix GeneChip technology to evaluate the patterns of expression in two different in vivo models of cardiac remodeling and in two different regions (left ventricle free wall and septum) of the heart. Mice underwent transverse aortic constriction (TAC); myocardial infarction (MI) or Sham operation and RNA from the left ventricle free wall and the septum was isolated 1 week later. more...

Expression Profiling of DA, COP, and F1(COPxDA) rat left ventricles

(Submitter supplied) We used high density oligonucleotide arrays to measure the relative expression levels of ~27,000 probe sets in the left ventricles of inbred rat strains; DA (high performing), Copenhagen (COP, low performing), as well as F1(COPxDA) rats bred from these two strains whose performance was intermediate relative to both parental strains. DA and COP rats differ for both intrinsic aerobic running capacity (assessed with a treadmill exercise test to exhaustion) and intrinsic cardiac performance (as assessed by the Langendorff-Neeley working heart model). more...

Gene expression profiles during the development of compensated or decompensated hypertrophy during pressure overload

(Submitter supplied) We recently introduced a modification of the established monocrotaline (MCT) model for pulmonary hypertension (PH) and subsequent right ventricular (RV) hypertrophy, which allows for the selective induction of either a compensate or decompensated RV hypertrophic phenotype within four weeks after a single subcutaneous MCT injection. Both doses of 30 or 80 mg/kg body weight lead to an intermediate phase of compensated RV hypertrophy (day 14-19), while the former dose leads to a stable compensated phenotype (HYP) and the latter dose progresses towards decompensated ventricular hypertrophy and RV failure (CHF) around day 25-28 (Buermans et. more...

mRNA Expression data from transverse aortic constriction hearts (cardiovascular disease) and sham hearts in mice.

(Submitter supplied) We used transverse aortic constraction pressure overload hypertrophy mouse hearts as a model of cardiovascular disease to study the genetic changes between TAC and SHAM (normal) mouse hearts and over 1 circadian cycle (24h). This is one approach to identify diurnal genetic biomarkers of cardiovascular disease. The micorarray approach allowed to see the gene expression in all genes in cardiovascular disease and sham hearts.

Mouse model of myocardial infarction

(Submitter supplied) This dataset is a time series (1 hour [h], 4 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, 1 week [w], and 8 weeks) intended to compare normal functioning left ventricles [lv + lv2] with infarcted [ilv] and non-infarcted left ventricles [nilv]. Ilv samples are taken from the region between the LAD artery and the apex on a mouse with myocardial infarction. Lv2 samples are from the same region in a sham operated mouse. Nilv samples are taken from the region above the infartion and the left ventricle [lv] samples mimic that region in a sham mouse. The lv and lv2 samples can be compared as both are from normal functioning hearts. For more information visit http://cardiogenomics.med.harvard.edu/groups/proj1/pages/mi_home.html Keywords: other
