Sporadic medulloblastomas

Analysis of sporadic medulloblastomas (MB), tumor grade IV from pediatric patients. Medulloblastoma is a highly malignant brain tumor occurring predominantly in children. Results provide insight into the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of MB.

Distinctive microRNA signature of medulloblastomas associated with the WNT signaling pathway

(Submitter supplied) Medulloblastoma is a malignant brain tumor that occurs predominantly in children. Current risk stratification based on the clinical parameters is inadequate for accurate prognostication. In order to get a better understanding of medulloblastoma biology, miRNA profiling of medulloblastomas was carried out in parallel with the expression profiling of protein- coding genes. miRNA profiling of medulloblastomas was carried out using Taqman Low Density Density Aarray v 1.0 having 365 human microRNAs. more...

Human medulloblastoma samples

(Submitter supplied) Purpose Integrated genomics approaches have identified at least four distinct biological variants in medulloblastoma: WNT, SHH, group C, and group D. Non-WNT/Non-SHH tumors are associated with metastatic dissemination and an unfavorable prognosis. Additional markers may enhance outcome prediction in Non-WNT/Non-SHH medulloblastomas. Experimental Design We combined transcriptomic and DNA copy-number analyses for 64 primary medulloblastomas. more...

Beta-catenin status in pediatric medulloblastomas

(Submitter supplied) Medulloblastoma is the most frequent malignant pediatric brain tumor. Considerable efforts are dedicated to identify markers that help to refine treatment strategies. The activation of the Wnt/beta-catenin pathway occurs in 10-15% of medulloblastomas and has been recently described as a marker for favorable patient outcome. We report a series of 72 pediatric medulloblastomas evaluated for beta-catenin immunostaining, CTNNB1 mutations, and studied by comparative genomic hybridization. more...
