profiling of an organ-specific sunflower transcriptoma under abiotic stress (salinity and cold conditions)

(Submitter supplied) Sunflower is an important source of vegetable oil worlwide. A differential organ-specific sunflower ESTs was previously generated by a subtractive hybridization method, including a considerable number of abiotic stress associated sequences. The objective of this work is to analyze the sunflower gene expression of previously identified candidate genes under a comprehensive microarray analysis of the leaf transcriptoma under cold and salinity stresses, considering the impacts of these abiotic stresses on sunflower yield in many productive areas. more...

A genomic approach to bud mutation in sweet orange (Citrus sinensis L. Osbeck) fruit

(Submitter supplied) Bud mutations arise often in citrus. The selection of mutants is one of the most important breeding methods in citrus. However, the molecular bases of bud mutation have rarely been studied. To identify the potential important or novel genes involved in bud mutation, different transcriptomic techniques combing suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) and microarray were performed between a lycopene accumulated mutant, ‘Hong Anliu’ sweet orange (Citrus sinensis L. more...

Chromatin and transcription dynamics regulate flower development during chilling accumulation in peach buds

(Submitter supplied) In deciduous fruit trees, entrance into dormancy occurs in later summer/fall, concomitantly with the shortening of day length and decrease in temperature. Generally speaking, dormancy can be divided into endodormancy, ecodormancy and paradormancy. In Prunus species flower buds, entrance into the dormant stage occurs when the apical meristem is partially differentiated; during dormancy, flower verticils continue their growth and differentiation. more...

A deep insight about the role of hydrogen cynamide in grape bud dormancy release by comparative transcriptomic and proteomic analysis

(Submitter supplied) Hydrogen cyanamide (HC) is an agrochemical compound frequently used to break bud dormancy in grapevine grown under mild winter conditions all over the world. The present study was carried out to get a better understanding of the molecular mechanism associated with HC to release bud dormancy in grapevine using RNA-seq based transcriptomic and tandem mass tag (TMT) based proteomic analysis.

cold stress -Impact of cold stress on grapevine inflorescence

(Submitter supplied) 12plex_vitis_2012_04 - cold stress - In temperate species, low temperatures adversely affect plant growth and development, constraining spatial expansion and productivity. Cold can trigger adaptive process or lead to alterations in physiological traits when stress intensity exceeds a certain threshold. Grapevine flower development and fruit set are influenced by cold nights in the vineyard. The correct formation of sexual organs and the success of reproduction are dependent upon sugar supply which can be affected by low temperatures. more...

Vitis riparia bud transcriptome in response to long and short photoperiod.

(Submitter supplied) The transition of axillary grapevine buds from paradormancy to endodormancy is an important mechanism for winter survival. Maintenance of paradormancy and transition to endodormancy may be synchronized by factors including phytohormones, genes, transcription factors and other molecular regulators. In the present study we used age matched buds from vines subjected to 28 days of short day (SD; 13h) treatment or continued long day (LD; 15h) photoperiod for high throughput transcriptome profiling.
