Downregulation of cinnamoyl-coenzyme A reductase in maize (affy_ccr_maize)

(Submitter supplied) affy_ccr_maize - affy_ccr_maize - Cinnamoyl-CoA reductase (CCR) catalyzes a key step in monolignol biosynthesis. We show that downregulation of CCR in maize was associated with lower lignin content and a strong decrease in H units. Concomitantly, these cell wall modifications were associated with higher digestibility. On another hand, immunocytochemistry indicated a modification of lignification pattern and cellulose content. more...

Transcriptome profiling of OsFBK1 rice transgenics

(Submitter supplied) Rice transgenic plants of the F-box encoding gene, OsFBK1, in the Pusa Basmati 1 (PB1) variety have been found to display differences in the anther and root phenotypes. In order to elucidate changes at the transcriptome level, microarray of the roots of 14-day-old seedlings of over-expresseion (OE) and knock-down (KD) lines along with vector control (VC) and wild type (WT) were carried out.

Differential expression profiling between two maize internodes identifies genes involved in cell wall biogenesis

(Submitter supplied) Despite the economic importance of grasses as food, feed and energy crops, little is known about the genes that control their cell wall synthesis, assembly and remodelling. Here we provide a detailed transcriptome analysis that allowed the identification of genes involved in grass cell wall biogenesis. Differential gene-expression profiling, using maize oligonucleotide arrays, was used to identify genes differentially expressed between an elongating internode, containing cells exhibiting primary cell wall synthesis, and an internode that had just ceased elongation and in which many cells were depositing secondary cell wall material. more...

RNA-seq analysis of total RNA from inflorescence stems of Arabidopsis Col-0, ccr-1, fer-4 and ccr-1/fer-4

(Submitter supplied) A. thaliana lines with reduced lignin content through down-regulation of the lignin biosynthesis enzymes cinnamoyl CoA reductase (CCR) exhibit extensive cell wall remodeling which results in the release of a mixture of pectic oligosaccharide elicitors of pathogenesis-related (PR) protein gene expression through the salicylic acid signaling pathway. Loss of function of FERONIA, a CrRLK1-like subfamily receptor-like kinase resulted in loss of PR-1, -2 and- 5 gene activation in stems of the ccr1/fer-4 double mutant.
