Gene expression profile of HCT116 exposed to chronic hypoxia

(Submitter supplied) To identify genes involved in survival to prolonged hypoxia we exposed HCT116 to hypoxia for 3 days. Control cells were exposed to normoxic conditions.

Effect of BAY 87-2243 on gene expression in hypoxic H460 cells

(Submitter supplied) The activation of the transcription factor Hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) plays an essential role in tumor development, tumor progression and resistance to chemo- and radiotherapy. In order to identify compounds targeting the HIF pathway, a small-molecule library was screened using a luciferase-driven HIF-1 reporter cell line under hypoxia. The high throughput screen led to the identification of a class of aminoalkyl-substituted compounds that inhibited hypoxia-induced HIF-1 target gene expression in human lung cancer cell lines at low nanomolar concentrations but did not affect expression levels of genes outside of the HIF-1 pathway. more...

Interleukin-11-expressing fibroblasts have a unique gene signature correlated with poor prognosis of colorectal cancer

(Submitter supplied) Interleukin (IL)-11 is a member of the IL-6 family of cytokines and involved in multiple cellular responses, including tumor development. However, the origin and functions of IL-11-producing (IL-11+) cells are not fully understood. To characterize IL-11+ cells in vivo, we generated Il11 reporter mice. IL-11+ cells appeared in the colon of murine tumor and acute colitis models. Il11ra1 or Il11 deletion attenuated the development of colitis-associated colorectal cancer. more...

Characterization of Interleukin 11-producing fibroblasts that constitute a niche for tumor development [Agilent]

(Submitter supplied) Interleukin (IL)-11 belongs to a member of the IL-6 family of cytokines and is involved in a variety of cellular responses. However, the origin and functions of IL-11-producing (IL-11+) cells are not fully understood. To characterize IL-11+ cells in vivo, we generated Il11 reporter mice. IL-11+ cells rapidly appeared in the colon of mice after dextran sulfate sodium treatment. IL-11+ cells expressed fibroblast markers and genes associated with cell proliferation and tissue repair. more...
