Identification of on/off switch genes in the zebrafish and rainbow trout anterior intestine transcriptome according to nutritional status

(Submitter supplied) Comparison of transcriptome data in fed and fasted conditions of zebrafish (Danio rerio) and rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) anterior intestine using the serial analysis of gene expression (SAGE) method was done in a strategy to identify key regulated genes at the transcript level and to allow the identification of activated/deactivated pathways after feeding.

Pituitary Tumors cDNA SAGE Libraries

(Submitter supplied) Despite a considerable literature concerning the molecular pathogenesis of pituitary tumors, the mechanisms of pituitary tumors development and progression remain unknown. Four SAGE cDNA libraries were constructed using a pool of mRNA obtained from five GH-, two ACTH-secreting, and four non secreting pituitary tumors (NS), and three normal pituitaries from patients who had accidental death, using I-SAGE kit (Invitrogen). more...

SAGE analysis reveals variation in midgut transcriptomes of dengue-2 susceptible and refractory Aedes aegypti mosquitoes

(Submitter supplied) Oral susceptibility of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes to dengue viruses varies between different Aedes species and strains. However, the midgut-specific transcriptional profile that may produce this variation is presently obscure and was the subject of our investigation. The variation in active expression between dengue-2 susceptible (SUS) and refractory (REF) mosquitoes was investigated during the first critical 96 hours after infection Transcriptional profiles were mined from respective guts using the serial analysis of gene expression technique (SAGE) and libraries constructed from midguts obtained from mosquitoes that received a dengue-2 infected blood meal (DENV-2), a non infected blood meal (naive) or a 5% sucrose meal (SM). more...

Gene expression profiles of CD8+ T Lymphocytes isolated from HTLV-1 infected individuals

(Submitter supplied) HTLV-1 is the etiologic agent of HTLV-1 associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP). CD8+ T cells may contribute to the protection or development of HAM/TSP. In this study we used SAGE to assess gene expression profiles of CD8+ T cells isolated from HTLV-1 asymptomatic carriers (HAC) and from HAM/TSP patients, in order to identify genes involved in the HAM/TSP development. Analysis of SAGE was conducted by pooling samples according to clinical status. more...

Profiling long non-coding RNA expression in oral premalignant lesions.

(Submitter supplied) Oral epithelial dysplasias are believed to progress through a series of histopathological stages; from mild to severe dysplasia, to carcinoma in situ, and finally to invasive OSCC. Underlying this change in histopathological grade are gross chromosome alterations and changes in gene expression of both protein-coding genes and non-coding RNAs. Recent papers have described associations of aberrant expression of microRNAs, one class of non-coding RNAs, with oral cancer. more...

Bombyx mori Posterior and Median Silk Gland SAGE transcriptome

(Submitter supplied) To identify functions that distinguish the posterior and median cells producing fibroin and sericin in the silk gland of Bombyx mori, serial analysis of gene expression (SAGE) profiles from both silk gland regions were analyzed and compared. The construction of a B. mori reference tag collection extracted from a set of 38000 Bombyx EST sequenced from the 3’ side, helped annotating the SAGE libraries. more...

SAGE analysis of maize root segments

(Submitter supplied) Dark-grown maize seedlings with primary roots 12-20 mm in length were transplanted to high (-0.03 MPa) water potential vermiculite. About 1,000 roots were collected. Each root was divided into 4 segments (distances are from the junction of the root apex and root cap): segment 1, 0-3 mm plus the root cap; segment 2, 3-7 mm; segment 3, 7-12 mm; segment 4, 12-20 mm. Details of the conditions and nutrient modifications have been described before (Sharp et al., 1988; Spollen et al, 2000). more...
